Headphones

For me, the only type of speaker I will put on my ear are headphones. Ear buds tend to have too much treble and not enough bass. This can harm the ear as the sound is forced in the ear, and not surrounding it. Headphones not only produce better sound, but they also block unwanted sounds from your surroundings. If you want better quality sound, go for the headphones!!! They are a bit more pricey but they will last a long time and you will not regret it. Cheers!

As each new single storms the radio waves, I catch myself taking a deep breath… Or rather a yawn. I do have to admit, top 40 songs can be really catchy. It is cool when you can sing a popular song with a friend or a stranger but it is not fun that EVERYONE KNOWS THAT SONG!!!

Sigh… It is not that I don’t appreciate popular songs; it is simply that it was too easy finding it. As a music enthusiast I have a journey. YES! A journey of exploring new types of music and uncovering hidden songs that will become my newest treasure. Musical taste is a continuously changing part of who you are. If people do not experience new types of music how are they ever going to understand and obscure music genre as Intelligent Dance Music (Glitch)? They won’t! All they will hear is broken sounds, glitchy horrid noise. In fact, the most frequent comments I get about Glitch and Death Metal is that it is repetitive, chaotic, and nothing but NOISE!!! I would once agree with such statements, but that was a long time ago. Now these types of music give me the most satisfaction. So much audio information could only be insulted by being called repetitive. Chaotic? I have never witnessed such complex algorithms that create such a beautiful painting of emotions and feelings. So many chills run down my back, I have found something rare that took so much searching. A treasure!

A double-edged sword, might I add. How can I share such intense feeling. An MP3 player is tangible, a passion is not. So I sit with my headphones, blissful solitude.

Analog Vs. Digital

Analog recordings work by measuring the air pressure of a sound. A transducer is used to turn the variations of air pressure into an electrical analog signal. Analog data can be recorded into analog and digital information.

Digital recording works by sampling the physical properties of a sound and turning it into numerical data. Sample rate and compression will affect the quality of sound. Sample rate is measured per second. So if a CD audio file is sampled at 44,000 samples per second, every second will have 44,000 numbers of information.

Benefits for Digital:

Digital audio equipment is (for the most part) less expensive than analog equipment

Audio recording does not degrade over time, once the information is sampled it has become defined.

Benefits for Analog:

Analog equipment works with knobs that change a waveform. This becomes an advantage because there are no perameters of how the waveform can be output.

A red leather jacket, Michael Jackson would love it,

A little too flashy, for such a conservative city,

But when I have my music on… it fits so perfectly,

I am proud to present a retro game track called Retro Bytes. Nostalgia fills the air as I remember the early days of gaming. Sound development back then was a lot harder than today. I believe the music composers for such consoles as Regular Nintendo and Sega are under appreciated. This one is for the gamers. There are some familiar sounds that I produced with a C64 module.
